Challenges

The Atlantic City Board of Education serves over 6,500 students across 11 schools in the seaside resort city of Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Telecor’s integrator, CM3 Building Solutions, began servicing Atlantic City Public Schools in 2016 by troubleshooting and repairing a failing system in the High School. Over time, it became apparent that public address and intercom upgrades were desperately needed across the district but funding limitations were a challenge.

Solution

CM3 suggested the Board of Education apply for a grant and in the Fall of 2021, a grant was awarded. These monies enabled the district to implement a comprehensive Public Address System across all facilities.

CM3 installed Telecor’s eSeries Public Address and Intercom system to provide an Ethernet-based solution eliminating internal copper infrastructure. eSeries increases the clarity and reliability of daily and emergency messaging with supervised endpoints – no centralized head-end, server, or controller is required.

Visual Console‘s easy-to-use graphical user interface makes administration of all operations a breeze with point and click access to features including lockdown.

eSeries integrates with a wide range of devices and can be easily expanded over time.

Other needs were identified beyond the PA and Intercom System to enhance Atlantic City Public Schools’ security posture. CM3 used a phased approach to add additional safety measures while aligning with the district’s budget:

• Alyssa’s Law Compliance – To comply with the legislation enacted in New Jersey in February 2019, silent panic devices were installed to enable immediate notification to authorities without dialing 911.
• Video Surveillance – Cameras were upgraded and strategically placed to achieve expanded coverage and increased visibility while minimizing licensing costs.
• Access Control – Repairs and upgrades were made to the existing system to ensure consistency including door status and easy cardholder management.
• Intrusion Detection – Upgrades were made to the existing alarm system for increased security.

The grant helped the Atlantic City Board of Education upgrade their daily and emergency communications to Telecor eSeries Ethernet-based Public Address & Intercom across all schools.
